Stand on the middle of the span and look upstream and you’ll see all sorts, from London’s towering skyline to the Royal Navy cruiser HMS Belfast and, of course, the Tower of London.

But the real star of the view is the Thames itself. So often whipped up by wind and tide, it flows beneath the bridge’s span at surprising speed
